2. WHAT DO CHILDCARE WORKERS DO?

Childcare workers can have a huge impact on the children in their care and help their development from a young age. As a childcare worker, you provide care and supervision for young children in a range of settings, such as after-school care, nurseries, childcare centres, family homes, and hospitals. You will help guide children’s behaviour and manage their social development, prepare and conduct activities.

4. HOW TO GET STARTED

You don’t need a diploma or a bachelor’s degree to work in the childcare industry. If you want to pursue a career as a childcare worker there are several online childcare courses you could consider studying to gain the foundational skills and knowledge to take the next step.

If you just wanted to get an idea of what it’s like to work in the childcare industry or simply to gain some knowledge of how to look after children, the Childcare (Career Sampler) is a good place to start.
